Giving Protection for Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a time to give back. At Spike’s K9 Fund, it is our mission to give back to the selfless and courageous K9s that work alongside our first responders, military, and search and rescue workers.

One of the many ways we give back is by providing custom-fit ballistic vests made by K9 Storm Inc. These bulletproof and stabproof vests are the same level of protection as the vests their human counterparts wear each day. These dogs are not volunteers. It's up to us to make sure they have the protection they deserve.

Our ballistic vest campaign has provided over 1,600 ballistic vests for K9s across the United States. The campaign that provides these vests is named after K9 Krijger. K9 Krijger worked with the Norfolk Police Department in Norfolk, Virginia when in 2016 he was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic call. Had he been wearing a ballistic vest that night, he would have survived the shooting. Every vest donated since has been in his honor and bears his service number in embroidery.

Vests provided by our generous donors have already saved multiple lives. Our goal this Giving Tuesday is to give even more of these vests to K9s in need of protection. Help us keep the dogs safe and make sure our K9 heroes come home every day.
