The Combat Dog Diesel Medical Program helps cover the high cost of medical care for active and retired K9s. These heroes face demanding work that often leads to injuries, and too often their families are left with the burden of care. Your donation ensures they receive lifesaving treatment, return to duty when possible, or retire with the comfort and dignity they deserve.
Combat Dog Diesel, like all working dogs before and after him, is an integral part of every mission’s success. Combat Dog Diesel served at a special missions unit and deployed eight times to combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. On one such mission, he took an AK-47 round to the chest. After significant rehab, Diesel returned to support his team on several more combat deployments.
He saved the lives of many Americans. Combat Dog Diesel received multiple combat awards, including the Bronze Star with a "V" and the Purple Heart.
Thanks to generous donors, Diesel was able to retire and live out his life in peace. But like many working dogs, his greatest battle came after the war – the fight for long-term medical care.

VETERINARY CARE FOR WORKING DOGS IS OFTEN COMPLEX, URGENT AND COSTLY. THESE EXPENSES OFTEN COME WITHOUT WARNING AND CAN QUICKLY OVERWHELM A HANDLER WHO IS ALREADY CARRYING THE EMOTIONAL WEIGHT OF SEEING THEIR PARTNER IN DISTRESS.
THAT’S WHERE WE COME IN.

We aim to alleviate that financial burden, allowing the handler to focus entirely on their K9 partner’s care and not on mounting bills. Whether the goal is recovery and a return to duty or a well-earned, comfortable retirement, your support ensures they receive the medical attention they need and deserve.
These dogs never hesitate to step up when called. Now it’s our turn.
NEED MEDICAL COST ASSISTANCE?
TO QUALIFY FOR MEDICAL COST ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE COMBAT DOG DIESEL MEDICAL PROGRAM, APPLICANTS MUST BE:
- Active handlers with certified working K9s in a recognized department
- Handlers of retired K9s with proof of service history
Our board reviews each medical case to ensure the treatment plan aligns with our charter and represents the best use of our donors’ contributions to the Combat Dog Diesel program.
Handlers are encouraged to keep us updated on the K9’s recovery and, when applicable, their return to duty so we can share their story and honor their continued impact.

To date, the Combat Dog Diesel Medical Program has funded over 400+ critical medical treatments. Each one helps a working or retired K9 receive the care they need to recover, return to duty, or enjoy a healthier retirement.
Our Combat Dog Diesel Medical Program provides financial assistance for medical care when a K9 becomes sick or injured. We want to make sure every K9, active and retired, receives the care they need and deserve.
Please help honor Combat Dog Diesel and donate in his name. All donations from this program will go directly to medical expenses for our working dogs.
